Here\u2019s a little bit of out history so far<\/h2>\n

The Vanuatu Chess Federation (VCF) began to take shape following a visit by Grandmaster Nigel Short, whose engagement helped bring together the key individuals who would go on to form the federation in 2022. Fostering its early development, the Wan Smolbag Youth Centre in Port Vila provided support in establishing community outreach and youth programs.\u00a0<\/p>\n

In 2023, the VCF was officially recognized as a member of FIDE, marking a major step in its growth. Since then, the federation has launched school-based initiatives, prison outreach, regular tournaments, and proudly sent national teams to events such as the 2024 Chess Olympiad in Budapest and the 2025 Oceania Zonal Championship. With a strong commitment to education, access, and empowerment, the VCF continues to grow as a national force for positive change through chess<\/p>\n
